Richard Drew

Ha, who am i kidding, i can't go an entrie day without being on a computer. i failed to realise i can just use these ones! Win for me.

Earthquakewise, just quickly, we're still not set. Ten minutes before i left this morning there was quite a big aftershock. i couldn't tell how big as i was standing outside in the open when it happened so it was hard to compare it to the ones i've felt when in the house or in a car. And the power went out again.

So i'm currently hitting up Otago Uni in TFJ, although right now i'm in the study rooms.
i feel kind of sorry for my sister, i mean she's so nice to me now but she gets nothing in return. i hardly ever have money on my phone to properly reply to her texts. And now that i'm here and she's asking questions and shit, all i can manage to answer with is "yes/no/i don't know/good." But i just don't know what else i can say because i've spent so long not talking to her that i've just lost the ability to say much. Which i think is happening with most all of the people i have ever talked to. But i kinda feel worse for her cos she has to put up with me in her space for the next four days and has put up with me all my life..

There's a mirror in TFJ which has a plaque above it. It says "In memorial, Richard Drew" and something else which i can't remember. It's not even a particularly nice mirror. It's just a long almost full length rectangle mirror with a white border, hanging next to the notice board in TFJ's entrance. It seems to me that the mirror is in memorial of someone called Richard Drew? It is a strange thing, indeed. Was Richard Drew a pretentious student who lived in TFJ for a year and enjoyed to look at himself in mirrors and admire how good his hair looked? Was he a TC who looked after the people of TFJ for a few years and they always looked too scruffy so he bought them a mirror? Beats me. Hold on. i'm just going to put his name into google.

Ahahhaaaa. Apparentlt Scotch Tape was invented by a guy named Richard Drew. What is Scotch Tape anyway? i think it's just sellotape. But he lived in Minnesota apparently, not here. Did he come here to give an inspiring talk at TFJ one time about sticking to your dreams to achieve, and he was really handsome so they honoured a mirror in his name? My guess is no. Let's look at the next Richard Drew. Some photographer. Did a photo called The Falling Man which apparently depicts a man falling from the World Trade Centre following the 9/11 attacks. Andddd he was one of the four Press Photographers present at the assassination of JFK. No mention of TFJ though :( Next! A judge. American, though. i'll have to turn on the "Pages from NZ" filter. i though i had something there, a direct hit of Richard Drew from the University of Waikato, slightly closer to home than the US. But.. it just turned out to be about a guy called Richard Prongle with thesis of the year, written about something to do with rugby. The article writes, "For his thesis, Richard drew on the idea of.." Damn.

i'm not seeing anything else on anybody else called Richard Drew. i'll have to look again later, because i'm really keen now to find out him. Seeing as he's got a whole mirror in his honour, you know..

i'm out for now, my sister's about to finish up her group tutoring on campus.

  1. oh that really sucks. you made me laugh when you mentioned scotch tape. it's like the most famous brand of tape in the us...well it's more like a type of tape than a brand--the kind of tape you would use to put a picture on a piece of paper.
i mean, when people want tape, they don't just say, "could you get me some tape?" it's either "masking tape" "duct tape" "packing tape" or "scotch tape" and then "what kind of scotch tape? double-sided? transparent? translucent?" the list goes on and on...and the scotch brand also makes all the other kinds of tape too! (duct, packing, etc.) LOL
